Caucasian Mountain dog for saleThe Caucasian Mountain dog isn't recommended for apartment life. They just need space and will do best with at least a large yard. Because its thick coat protects it so well, it can happily cope with living out-doors provided it has proper shelter. Their life expectancy is about 9 and 11 years. Their height can reach 72 cm and they can weigh more than 68 kg!
They are loyal to their mission in protecting their flock and family and will stand by and defend through any circumstance. They are an extremely aggressive animal and need very experienced and brave owners. Some German fanciers employ the dogs as foremost guardians and deterrents. This is not a dog for everyone. It requires an owner who knows how to display strong leadership and who is willing to spend a lot of time socializing and training. The objective in training this dog is to achieve a pack leader status. It is a natural instinct for a dog to have an order in their pack. When we humans live with dogs, we become their pack. The entire pack cooperates under a single leader. Lines are clearly defined and rules are set. Because a dog communicates his displeasure with growling and eventually biting, all other humans MUST be higher up in the order than the dog.
